As we reach the halfway point of the season we take a look at the best bets for the rest of the season across the English Leagues.

Safe to say it’s been a pretty eventful season so far, not sure many expected to see the Man City implosion, Liverpool running away with it, and United being in the bottom half of the table. Well even from a Utd fan here that’s not actually the biggest surprise, we are so shit!! Anyway we take a look ahead at the best long term bets for the rest of thee season across the leagues.

First up in the Premier League, and as big of a surprise it is to have seen City go off the rails, you just knew they had to get back on track at some point, and with the last couple of results you can see the confidence coming back. To have them at 1/2 to finish in the top 4 for us is to big to miss out on. Probably a good one to add to an acca. Man City Top 4 finish – 1/2

Staying in the Prem, and Spurs have been doing Spurs things as usual, but still they have some quality in that team in Kulusevski, Archie Gray is class and once they get back Romero, Van de Ven and Vicario they will be okay. Certainly not saying top 4 territory here, but just a top half finish for Spurs is 8/11, that seem huge, they will finish ahead of the like of Fulham for sure. Spurs top half finish – 8/11

Into the Championship now where it is tight at the top, you’ve got 4 teams who all look like they could finish top, but the odds just don’t match up for us. Leeds look the strongest but have some strange results, Burnley and Sheff Utd will be there or thereabouts, but Sunderland at 16/1 to win the league is too big to pass up on. The signing of Enzo Le Fee is just madness, to get a player of that calibre to the Championship beggars belief, keep an eye on them to make a real push for promotion and possibly the title. Sunderland to win the Championship – 16/1

League 1 next, and again it is 4 teams who are taking charge in the league. Birmingham will have enough in the end to win the league, a compact organised team who will get the job done. That leaves us to look at who will be promoted. Wycombe have impressed to date, strong physical side, but have started to lose their way very slightly, Wrexham will stay in contention, but it’s Huddersfield who we like to keep improving and to gain promotion if not automatically then via the Playoffs. Huddersfield to be promoted – 21/20

At the other end of the table teams are starting to be cut adrift but the value on Crawley to be relegated still remains. They had a great start to the season with 2 of their 5 wins coming in the first 2 games, since then 3 wins in 21 games is relegation form. Having sold some of their better players to start the season too they caught a few people by surprise, but they seem to be moving on one direction now (no jokes). Crawley to be relegated – 8/11

Lastly in League 1 the top goal scorer market has opened up with Louie Barry going back to Villa on loan, a big shame for Stockport County but he is far too good for that league. And so we look around and Alfie May at 6/1 being only 2 goals away from top scorer is good value. Richard Kone now leads with 13 (minus Barry) but May with 3 goals in his last 2 games and Wycombe just starting to slip up May is a nice option as we approach the business part of season. Alfie May top scorer – 6/1

League 2 is a minefield and has been all season, Quite like the look of Salford actually here who under Karl Robinson have made great strides, and in years gone by this league has provided evidence of teams who start slow and come on strong to get over the line. At 6/4 we like those odds with them currently sat in the automatic spots and 6 wins from their last 6 too. Any type of run in this league and you can create some separation. Salford to be promoted – 6/4

Lastly in the National league and a 3 horse race here. York City are making moves to make a real push and the signing of Josh Stones from Wigan for a record fee leaves them well placed to continue that push. Should be an entertaining run in here, one to keep an eye on. York to win the league – 15/8

We’ll be back with the European leagues.
